The butterfly house

Step into the third room and experience the butterflies and marvel at the diversity and warmth of the tropical rainforest.

If you are lucky, you will see a butterfly hatch and spread its wings for the first time. Most of the butterflies are imported here as chrysalises and some butterflies go through their entire life cycle inside the greenhouses at Haga. The temperature never goes below 25 degrees during the day and even at night it is at least 18 degrees. The humidity is always high and it is precisely these conditions that allow the butterflies to thrive. In a year, several thousand butterflies live here and every time you visit us there are at least 700 butterflies of a variety of species. The butterflies are exotic in our latitudes, while at home they are relatively common.

There are no endangered butterflies at the Butterfly House. Inside the Butterfly House there are also quails (small fowl), freshwater fish, rays, frogs and a variety of tropical plants. Don't forget to check out our large chrysalis cabinet which we also call FjärilsBB. All the chrysalises that come to us are hung up in the chrysalis cabinet. There are almost always newly hatched butterflies in the chrysalis cabinet getting ready for their first flight.
