Macroramphosus scolopax
The snapper is easily recognized by its long, slender snout, which it uses to suck small animals out of sand and rock crevices. It is usually 15-20 cm long, but can grow up to 30 cm.
The species lives in large schools, sometimes with thousands of individuals. It is found in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and parts of the Pacific.
